You need sharp eyes and quick and strong hands to be able to block a player. Just oush him to the edge where he has to pick the ball up after dribbling. Then it as easy as hell. Lean over a little ( no dirty minds )making him feel uncomfortable ( try not to foul the guy or hurt him). So then he would either pass to a teammate. At this moment he will keep his eyes of you for a short time, take your chance and hit the ball away from him ( again try not to foul ) do it quick with no hestitaion. if he decided to shoot. Just put your hands up in a line with the basketlooking from the opponent point of view. He cant shoot or either go for a desperate one. Hope it come in useful!

crouch down in a normal defensive stance, and dont play him too close...give him teh shot if hes looking to pull a move or somethin. make sure ur feet r shoulder width apart (so not too close and not too far), so that u wont get crossed but u can still bring ur feet back together if he tries to go thru ur legs. and that ur down pretty low, but not so low that he can easily put it over ur head. i would also recommend playing a slightly staggered position, meaning that ur forcing him to his weak side.

and keep ur lead hand up, and one hand down, becasue that way he cant bounce it off ur head or put it over u as easy. the hand thats down can stop bad dribbling/crossovers, but dont reach if it looks like hes got control cuz then u'll just get crossed.

but if hes not that good of a dribbler, and/or hes not that fast, play him really close so that he'll have to pass away under the pressure.

to be intimidating, if you know you cant get the block this is what you do. if you jump up and your near him but you cant get the block, hold your hands near your sides, and then in his line of shooting (as close as you can) bring your hands up together really fast and clap really loud like a split split second before he shoots. it should screw him up a little. hard to explain really, but you kinda get it?

It's just distracting him though? Like, people do that in the NBA sometimes too, I've seen once or twice.

what i do is look at the tendency's the player does in an actual game.....such as taking 1 big dribble before going for a layup or stares at ur legs before going through ur legs, next time they try and do the same move u should be ready to anticipate the trick

ya thats really important, because all players have tendencies that u can take advantage of

another is how good they are with their weak hand, if they seem to always be dribbling with their strong hand and/or driving that way, then u can force them to their weak hand. But like i said b4, dont play too staggered because then they'll just drive right by u, or cross u up the other way.
