Alright boys, here's another move for you guys. Nothing too crazy, but it is legal, and it does work.

1) Take a hard dribble forward with your right hand (while stepping forward on your left foot).

2) Continue to move forward by stepping forward with your right foot (like walking, right?) and as your right foot goes down, dribble back-to-front between your legs, so the ball is in your left hand.

3) Stall just a bit (don't move the ball or your feet) and then put the ball front-to-back through your legs (back to your right hand).

4) From there, very fluidly you can either do a right-handed behind the back dribble to get around your man, or you can do a right-handed spin to get around him.

So, in a nutshell this move is just a quick go and stop at your man, two through the leg dribbles, and spin or behind-the-back to get around your man.

Maybe this will encourage you guys to come up with some new combinations, too.

Wow, it's been a while. Here is a move to get around a defender who is waiting for near the top of the key on a fast(ish) break.

1) Dribbling with your right hand, jump stop on two feet and dribble the ball, right to left, behind your back.
2) Immediately, as the ball gets to your left hand, pivot on your right foot, and do a half spin to your left. Do a hard pound dribble when your left foot hits the court and your body is facing away from the D. That is called a half spin, fake spin, whatever.
3) As soon as your left foot hits the court and you pound the dribble, reverse the movement (pivot on your right, return left to where it was) and drive to the basket.
4) (not always necessary) If you could not find a hole after step three, do a quick [through the legs] cross and drive that way.

Why this works: The D sees you coming full speed at them, and you stop suddenly with Step 1. Then they see you starting to spin, and they will try to recover after being thrown off by Step 1, so they will bite on the spin and go fast that way. Because it was just a fake spin, and the pound dribble gets the D going to their left, it is easy to reverse the motion and get around them. If the D was smart and did not bite on the fake spin, the extra cross will really throw them off.
