i know you guys are talking about bball shoes
but if you are going to test your vert and want it to be as high as possible you are suposed to where track spicks but take out the spikes thoes are just about the lightest shoes you can get

they are good for jumping as long as the spickes are off
but they are not so good for running and stoping on a bball cort
i would only use them when testing your vert and you want it to be high
like tryouts (if your coch meshers it during tryouts)

a tight light shoe, that is low. so it isnt swallowing ur ankle, if it is a high shoe then u wont have the same movement from ur feet when u jump. they need to be tight so u dont lose any force and if they are light it helps. the shoe doesnt make that much difference but some shoes are better than others. for example my and1's are better for jumping than my af1's.
