I've been thinking a bit lately, and doesn't it sort of strike to any of you that we're not living in a humane world any more?

Every freakin day when you look up the news or take up a paper it's all about death and killings and massacre and bombings and yet,
WE DONT CARE. No one bats an eyelid if you hear news of someone getting blown up or whatever. Everybody is so more interested in worrying about what the fuck some lame ass celebrities are doing up in Hollywood that we're just have become so de-sensitive nowadays.

Today's world is a world of prejudices. SBT is a place I have seen having a lot of people from pretty different racial and cultural backgrounds. I mean, yeah this is a pretty sensitive topic I guess, but I was just wondering, since all of us are here anyway and we think we know each other reasonably well, why are we scared to deal with these issues? I want to hear what yall have to say about some stuff.

Yeah, and before I start, this is my opinion. It's may be misinformed, though I try to be as unbiased as possible, it's my impression. It's what I honestly think about what I'm going to say.

Here's my take on the US. I've never been to US, and I'm not saying everybody else is perfect or anything, this is just what I have to say.

First of all, from what I've read, which may or may not be entirely true, I feel that Americans are terribly misinformed. And yet do not take any effort to correct their opinion. I once read somewhere the a huge percentage of the Congress people who ordered the Iraq war actually thought that Iraq was in Africa. How retarded is that? America today is undoubtedly the most powerful country interms of technology and military. But intellectually I feel that they are terribly misinformed.

I feel that America today believes in "good vs. evil". That the wars happening today are fights between "good" guys and "bad" guys. They probably must be thinking, why these Muslims giving shit to us?? They started it, so we gotta give it to 'em? I feel the American public is being taken for a ride based on these old wild west ideology of the good guys going after the bad guys.. just so wrong. What people should realize is that today's wars are not wars between good guys and bad guys.. These are wars on ideologies. The terrorists aint giving shit to you for no reason. You can't win those wars. You can't fight a cause or a mind. What America has to do is not stop the symptoms, but solve the cause, if you know what I mean.

I'm not a Muslim although Ilive in a Muslim country, and I'm not American so you call my view pretty neutral and informed I guess

All the "americans are so stupid" stuff is just lame in my oppinion, so many rumors and people are just trying to make them look bad, that those people thought iraq was in africa is a rumor too.

Anyway I agree with the things you wrote, good vs evil I mean c'mon?? you cant think that way its just stupid.

yeah i get sorta the same feeling. im from australia, and ive never been overseas but my friend is muslim, his family are from saudi arabia and they are nothing like ppl say muslims are supposed to be. they arent all terrorists, or american hating people. they are just like any other person. there is so much bad stuff going on in the world that you cant really lose sleep over it. on sbt its good to have people from many different backgrounds, you get an idea of what they are like, and in reality they are no different. for all i know, some of you could be living in some middle of nowhere country and i wuld think you were from america. i thought you were from america ecthelion actually. but i do agree that americans possibly dont have their priorities right, lyk the things they learn at school. they should know where countries are, and learn about other places. i mean there are ppl on here like madprops and gunhill, that speak really good english even though its not their first language, then there are other ppl who no nothing of another language and no nothing of any other cultures except for rumors and what they have heard, like that muslims are all terrorists and stupid things like that... well thats basicly what i think. good thread.

I don't really have an opinion on the Tibet issue, I don't know too many ground facts so I won't be shooting my mouth off here.

I didn't mean that I thought Americans are stupid as in retarded or anything, they are amazing in their own respect as is everybody, what I mean was that they are misinformed.

My cousin in Memphis once told me (I don't know if it's true) that in the newspaper there you don't get world news or something like that. America is dominating in all world matters and yet the people don't care? My impression is that the americans just care about their lives and just don't give a fuck about what Somalia or any other country. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

And on the other extreme, there are Eastern countries like India for example, where, if something happens at the other end of the world they'll start rioting and burning stuff just like that as though they are mortally offended or something.

And the reason I think it's a good vs. evil mentality out there is because there really is no other explanation! Honestly just listening to that hog McCain and Dick Cheney who think that war is the best thing that ever happened to the world and that "we are the good guys and the good guys will always win in the end" bullshit, makes me so sick I almost laugh.

What do yall think about the "war on terror"? IMO, it's not a war on terror, it's a war OF terror. People are more scared now that ever before. And it seems really insane that the US administration really expects to win it. You can't win this war people.

The US probably thinks (or so it seems to me) that if they kill or detain all these terrorist guys it's going to stop?? Give me a damned break. I can't believe that these retarded people who actually supported the wars didn't ever stop to think "Why these terrorists messin with us?? Obviously there has to be a reason!" I feel the more the US tries to fight, the more deep theyre going to get in shit.

like people hating president bush...... he isnt that bad of a president.....unlike if you look at someone like bill clinton...which everybody loves for some reason....

and if you ask them WHY they hate or like something..... they will be speechless MOST of the time...(it might be just me and the people that i talk to
