Default Is anyone else trying to....

Make gains on their squat and deadlift? I've seen great gains lately. From this I've gained more speed, and probably more vert, I just haven't tested it.

Yeah dude I am.

For sure squat strength is key.

Hey nice stats but I noticed your calves are down. Not hating or anything but usually calves should match biceps for circumference. It probably doesn't matter if you're not doing body building comps.

Congratulations on your increased stats.

Yeah, I'm working on it. I haven't re-measured lately either. My box squatting routine is improving my lifts by the day. Did you get my reply to you message?

Just checked. Calves up 1/2" in about 2 weeks. And yes, I am not a bodybuilder, I hate speedo's.

I can on alley oops. I am maybe 2 inches short on my vert. Although, it seems to have improved, I'll check it tomorrow at practice.

Yup, count me in It has been on hold since Dec last year, so am itching to get back in the game. Agree with you that box squats are awesome - great carryover to both squats and deadlifts too. My goal is to do roughly 2.5x BW then changing the bias towards max power and plyos. I have done barely any plyos since I have started retraining and am keen to see if I can capitalise on my relative strength levels.

I've stayed away from plyos as well. But as you know, I just started REALLY concentrating on my lower half. I've been working it, just not KILLING it like I have lately. Yes, the box squats are really the only thing that I can point to. Now I'm targeting 400 lbs for the deadlift, and squat, I don't really have a target. I guess 2.5 sounds about right. As you know, I'm working toward a 300 lbs clean & jerk. I'm almost there.

My reach is missing that 2".... about 68 I think. But my vert is going up. I'm not a dunker, never wanted to be. I am concentrating on my speed and explosion, and with that comes the vert. I'm not going to be trying to dunk in a game, just blow by people. Then explode for a solid layin. I don't care about being flashy, I'd rather be solid. I've got a very easy jumpshot from just inside half court, actually, the further out I go, the less it is a jumpshot.

Nice one on the C&J! I'm absolutely useless in olympic lifts - I do them because they are fun though. Did some hang cleans with 70kg / 155lbs today. I had a better shrug so I got the bar pretty high in the air. I need to work with the baby weights first lol.
