is there any reason to this???

im pretty sure that chinese names work differently, lyk there last is used as there first name or something

I think the names are kinda interchangeable type thing, we were studying stuff like that in socials

OK let me clarify.

Yao is actually his last name. Which is also the family name. It's not interchangable. Our last name is not used as a first name. It's just placed in the front.

Yao = the name that his father, grandfather, etc have.

Ming = his name.

his real name is ming yao. everyone just calls him yao ming.
