Hey Everyone!
I'm new to the board. I'm a former professional basketball player (Europe, IBL) that hasn't played much recently, but I'm trying to get the old "hops" back . Hope I can be of some help.

I played in Germany in 2004 for Kirscheim, and then I played in the IBL in 2005 for the Central Oregon Hotshots. I then realized as much as I loved basketball, I truly wanted to be a surgeon, so now I'm in medical school.
I was screwing around on the internet the other day, and came across this forum and I thought I might be of some help to a few of you youngsters .

Man, I started playing basketball when I was little kid, maybe around age 4 with my older brother and his friends. I just loved it at an early age and never really stopped playing until the last couple of years, because I have to really focus on my studies. Medical school is a beast ! I had a great career throughout high school and college (8th or something leading scorer in the nation, NCAA Div II in 2002-2003), and was fortunate to land a job playing professionally for a couple of years.

Not that amazing, but still lucrative. Teams do pay for all of your expenses including your apartment, etc. So what you make, you basically take home. I was able to make enough though to save some of that money for future use. If I would have stayed over there and kept playing, my contracts would have gotten bigger and better every year until I really started making "big" money .
