Default J.D's VJB Journal

I just started VJB Monday. I am currently doing the Bodyweight and beginner plyos. I am on week 1 of phase 1.
Age: 13
Height: 5'8
Standing Reach: 7'8
Standing Vertical: 8'8/12inch vertical
Running vertical: 9'0/14inch vertical


My vert extremely sad. I hope to be dunking by next basketball season which is in November. My goal is to have a vertical of 32 inches or so like A.J . Hopefully this will happen. I am doubtful because of my age. I think I have really weak calves. I can't even tell when I'm flexing them therefore I am going to do 50 reps straight every morning /night increasingly by 5 in addition to VJB.

Wish me luck I am getting ready to start my second plyos workout of week1, phase1.

I just finished the 2nd workout of week1 and I think I tore or strained my hamstring. I have previously injured my hamstring and of course I did not stretch but I warmed up by playing a little basketball before doing VJB so as of now I am taking a weeks break because USSSA 2007 State Championships are in a month so no need to kill myself over a few inches of vertical leap.

what are the ussa state championships. and shouldnt it be 2008 since its been 2008 for more than 5 months.

Good point should be 2008. I just made the post after I did the workout so I was a bit tired. USSSA is like AAU its a travel league. You play at a high level and travel to different tournaments across the state or sometimes the Nation. (US that is)

How did those sets of 100 body squats go for you? From the bodyweight training program in VJB.

Well I'm not trying to be mean nut I'm not really sad that ur screwed up ur hamstring. Thats what happens when u play basketball instead of stretching.

I woke up today and my hamstring felt fine. I'm not sure what happened yesterday but it feels fine but I'm going to take off until Monday.
