Default Re: VJB Novice Weights+Beg Plyos

Yes, smart thinking. For optimal strength training, you need a fresh CNS. Plyos train the CNS as well. Try this:

Monday - Weights (heavy)
Wednesday - Plyos in the morning, Weights late afternoon (light/medium)
Friday (medium or heavy)

You need to judge what light, medium and heavy means for you. The heavy day is where you need a fresh CNS to make real gains. Light and medium days are for skill reinforcement (which in itself can make you stronger) and 'speed work' (RFD training to an extent).

As you get used to this, you can try contrast training and mixing plyos and weight training in the same session.
