Re: 15+6 Week TVP Journal-Malone32
No worries. Hey, nice vert numbers - but you can definitely make significant improvements once your hamstrings are up to par. Your quads must be really strong. Quite the opposite of me. Weaker than optimal quads; not bad hamstring strength & strong glutes.

Re: 15+6 Week TVP Journal-Malone32
Well as planned I did my first workout today. Went from about 3:40 till 5ish, or a little after. I went by the book for all reps and sets, and about 90% of the time between sets (I got tired of waiting a full minute between each of the 18 sets of squats deadlifts and high pulls so I waited 40 seconds for some of those.
The most notable things for me: The box squats were absurdly easy. The deadlifts were also fairly easy. 45% 1rm seems to be very low, and 2 reps per set makes it even easier. The plyos at the end were surprisingly tough given how good I felt after the first part. I guess my time doing VJB with way higher weights than I was supposed to means I've built up a tollerance to working out.
I'll keep you all posted.

Re: 15+6 Week TVP Journal-Malone32
Second day done, and once again exactly followed reps and sets. This one was a little easier, though I think I did the high pulls wrong yesterday, just felt a little wierd. Today was good not very sore. I did the abs too, hanging leg raises w/ a 20 pound dumbbell.

Re: 15+6 Week TVP Journal-Malone32
Well, here I am at day 3, and my hammys are still quite sore, I'ma do the workout at 9:30 anyway but we'll see how it goes I figure the plyos might be hard. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem training sore, just a little intimidating about things to come as it will only intensify. I'll post after the workout on how it went, upper body is lightly sore from yesterday btw.

Re: 15+6 Week TVP Journal-Malone32
Aight so I did todays workout. My hamstrings are SHOT. I mixed up day 3 this week with week 2 day three, but the only difference is glute/ham raises instead of partial deadlifts so I think no biggy. The glute ham raises were a bitch, I absolutely could not do them at all. Any ideas/help?
Also the track coach critiqued my plyo form. He says its all about timing, and this jumping is nonsense. I'd ignore him but he had a 44+ vert back in the day and did olympics. He also said I was landing wrong on my jumps (the one legged ones). I would land on the ball of my foot and attempt to absorb the shock as quickly as possible without my heel touching down before exploding up again, this wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Real GHR on a GHR bench? Or the "Natural"/Floor version?
Your coach was on the Olympic squad? What for?
On the subject of plyos, I would have thought that the goal is to minimise ground contact time and it is best to utilise as much elasticity in your achilles tendon. To me that means keeping the heel off the ground but not at the expense of stability; you really need sufficient calf and foot strength for this to work. Then again I'm no expert here. Would be interested in hearing the reasons behind his views. Out of interest, what exercises were you doing?

Re: 15+6 Week TVP Journal-Malone32
I was trying the real GHR, and I had just done the one legged jumps where I kick my rump and was doing the one legged hops.

Aight so I did the fourth workout, all's good, but I don't know exactly what lying pull holds or seated rows are. All the rest is going good.
