Week 5 Day 2

Novice Plyos done. I worked out my upper body yesterday so it could be the reason for my slight decrease in my standing broad jump (part of Plyos) just now. Gonna do Bodyweight later.

Just wondering, how do you NOT bend your knees during the high drop jump? I told my knees not to bend but they don't have ears lol

ur nutts ............................will fall if u don't bend ur knees

You should bend ur knees but you shouldn't go deeper than half-squat.
Look at this video made by frank yang(the asian guy with 40'' vertical jump, standing):

Oic... That's the right way to do it? Everytime I do it I straighten my knees after I bend. Now I know it's wrong.

Also VJB wrote bend as little as possible so I assumed it meant not to bend lol...

Week 6 Day 1

Plyos and Bodyweight done! The 3rd week always seems the easiest I'm gonna test my gains next week. Hopefully I get like another 2 inches!

Week 6 Day 2

K so I did Plyos and cut my knuckle when doing standing broad jump. Pretty deep. I knocked into the edge of my cupboard when I landed Still, I finished Plyos.

But after that I just didn't feel like doing Bodyweight. Blame it on my laziness lol...

So, 2 more phases to go! Hope to grab the 10 feet rim by the end of 12 weeks and be able to dunk on the 9 feet 6 one.

Gonna test my gains next Wednesday. Wish me luck

Sounds like you are doing good. I just read through your whole journal and the one thing that I would tell you is listen to your body. The 1st week when you were really sore, it was good that you took the day off. So, good luck and hopefully you will reach the rim and possibly almost dunk.

Thx John! OK so today's supposed to be my rest day but I was tempted to ball with my friend and I did! Lol...

Guess what. I can now hang on the 9'6" rim easily! Compared to 1 phase ago where I had to struggle to grab it, it's a marked improvement. I'm not exactly sure how much I gained from Phase 2, around 1 to 2 inches I guess.

Good news is that- I touched the 10' rim a few times today!! Well just with my middle finger's fingertip. Still, I've never done it before man! Damn happy that I did it!

The above was all stationary 2 legged jump. What's worrying me is my running one legged jump. It doesn't seem to have improved at all from Phase 2... Perhaps my technique really sucks.

As for my vertical, I'm still confused. My calculations with the 9'6" and 10' rims do not tally the gains I have gotten. Maybe that wasn't 9'6 but 9'8?? Or maybe that's not a 10' rim but a 9'9? one? Never mind, as long as I can dunk one day I'll be thankful

K. So I'm gonna rest a few days and test my gains... Hopefully I'll jump higher than today!

ESTIMATION: 8 MORE INCHES TO DUNK ON 10' RIM

Wow seems like you had great gains.
How many inches did you need to hang on rim?
Like were do you need to hand on the rim with your hand to hang on to it?

My gains aren't considered great haha. Initially I just needed 2 to 2.5 inches from the tip of my middle finger to hang on the rim. So it's the 2nd joint of my middle finger. Now i can jump higher till like 3 to 4 inches?? Somewhere there

But bear in mind that's a lower rim. For the 10' one, I can only tap it with the tip of my middle finger!
