Cheers dude. It just frustrates me that I can bench more than I can squat at the moment. For most people this is the other way around. I bench 90kgs with full range, but can only squat 70kgs when I do the full range of movement.

I might skip a weights session and see if it produces some gains next week. One hamstring was torn (only slightly) so I might let that recover. I will still try some plyometric of phase 2 novice plyos and try to maintain form.

Hi All,

I had a week off and returned to training yesterday by doing some sprints. Legs are feeling good but my jump has measured the same today as it was a week ago. I will hit the deadlifts and squats this week and end the second phase of training. I will also go to an athletic track with some friends next weekend and check my times for the 40m dash. I don't know how you all can gain so much strength each week from squating. I am still lucky to get my own bodyweight. I am having a lot of troubles with my technique when doing the full range of motion. Once the exercise starts making my legs tired, then my back just does all the work and I don't really train my legs hard enough. My back just takes over when I get fatigued. It fu(ks me off just thinking about how fu(king awkward the correct technique is. I wish i could just stack the bar and rip some out, but it takes me a lot of concerntration not to fall backwards on my arse.

If the next squats session doesn't work I'm just going to try the smith machine on balbearings and rest on the bar and try to smash the rear-kinetic chain that way. I hope you all are still getting some gains in some form from your training. Until next update (for my phase two results), I'll catch you all later.

Mig

Hi all,

No VJ testing results yet, but I promise to post the results of phase 2 soon!

This was just a quick update after doing a workout today. Things are feeling a bit better. I am falling behind schedule due to having a extra day for recovery between workouts, but I feel like things are getting stronger again. My plyometric work today was getting snappy again, so hopefully that translates in to a better VJ soon.

Cheers,

Mig

Hey are you doing beginner plyos or novice? Did you start plyos with weights at the same time? Congratulations on gaining so much on your bounce. Keep it up!

Hey KW_39,

I'm doing novice plyos and I started with novice weights at the same time. I tried to update my journal title to reflect that, but I wasn't successful.

Apparently you get better vert increases if you train weights and plyos as a combined program, as opposed to doing a strength program for 12 weeks, then trying after to do a plyometric program.

I hope redsox answered your questions in the other thread you started, he has some experience to back up the advise.

I took a week off after phase 1 just because I was playing 3 games of basketball a week and I needed a break from training. It probably also explains to good gains after phase 1 because I took a long break after pushing pretty hard for a month.

I also took last week off due to a small hamstring tear. Things are feeling pretty good now though. I finally finish phase 2 on wednesday and will test for any changes in performance.
