My Tryout
As in my previous thread, I said I had basketball tryouts. After my tryouts I played pretty good, didn't score much, but got most or almost all of my teams rebounds and got the most assists in the whole tryout. I think I will make the cit but if I do I had one problem when I played, sometimes on a fastbreak I commit mistakes and turnovers (it just seems the games is going really fast for like a split second) Anybody have any tips how to improve my decision making skills, PLEASE HELP.
Thanks

Re: My Tryout
I don't know if there is any other way to help decision making except for calming down. I guess you could play games like Chess where every move you make has a consequence in the game, therefore you make better decisions towards that, that might not help though.

Re: My Tryout
if u have the money, or its out on the web for free, maybe try intelligym?
i've heard its good for that type of stuff and it imporves your bball iq, im gunna get it when im a junior or senior maybe...
other than that, never think about things twice on a fastbreak, because by the time you do it, it probably wont be there anymore and the ball will get stolen. just do whatever u can, u dont have to always rush on a fastbreak, if nothings there then just clear it out and wait for ur team to set.

Re: My Tryout
I think that's all experience, like some rookies always make some mistake on fast break or passing but the veterans wouldn't, because they play a lot and have experience.

Re: My Tryout
i think the chess thing is the best idea....chess really teaches you how to think five moves ahead....you just need to start thinking the game, remind yourslelf constantly what you need to do.....and slowing down a lil will help ya.....always remeber you don't have to score on primary break a lot of times the best play is your secondary break.

Re: My Tryout
what do u mean? like ur on a fast break with some1 on ur heels and u go to fast and the layup hits th backboard then the ring and bounces out coz u goin 2 fast? that happens to me sometimes if some1 is right on my heels but u just gotta shoot it softly and slow down for ur jump, dnt worry bout getting blocked coz they will probably call a foul and if ur turning it over just go by the fundamentals and dribble safe and only pass when the pass is open and make sure its a fast hard pass to the chest
