Re: The Media Does Not Shape A Players Career
i actually disagree with that statement. Just look at various draft busts. Kwame or Darko for instance.I know its their fault that they just cudnt handle the rumble in the NBA, but i thnk the media just destroyed their confidence, along with a charles barkley comment here and ther. Also, look at Kobe. Honestly, at least 1 in 2 basketball fans HATED kobe after the whole shaq thing and the rape thing and him being a ballhog blah blah blah. As a matter of fact i know some ppl that regarded the 81 pt game as "kobe being a ballhog" and now regard it as "legendary". but since the media started portraying him as a "nice guy" (im not saying hes not a nice guy, i wudnt know) hes started to become the center of fans yet again.
Im not saying the media shapes your whole career, cuz you obviously need an insane skill set to even be considered to be in the nba, but i mean, without media, ppl that went to the lower division 1 schools or division 2 schools wouldnt even get noticed by teams. anyways thats just what i thnk.
