your vert is all about 3 things,
1. the overall strength of your muscles
2. the speed with which you can apply that strength, and
3. the elasticity of your muscles (think of your muscles being rubberbands)

having 1 or 2 of these factors will not necessarily give you a good vert, it's only when all 3 are strong that you can get up....
So lifting + plyometrics + rest + eating right = hops!!!

I don't know why your legs woud hurt so much or why your vertical would decrease that quickly. Did it actually do down that much? How are you measuring it?
Either way, start being active again. Muscles atrophy (lose size and strength) if they aren't used.

1) Is this decrease in vertical jump because of your leg pain?

1) You could have something called Neural Dumbness, This definition was created by Bill Piche I believe. What it is, is if your body is used to training daily then all of a sudden you take 2 weeks off when you come back to train again you will feel your strength decrease at first. But once you get back into training you will notice your results increase at a faster rate.

3) This also could be a result of you going into a workout without a positive attitude about a workout.

there are many reasons for this but right now i recommend to start training again.
