Default serious jumping question

i am a hispanic 14 year old guy, really small for my age (apparently), at 5'3, i am rather chubby at 142 pounds (dang i know thats bad) and i come about 2 inches short of touching the net when i jump, 2 questions, what do you people think my hight will get to be?, and, my vertical is about 16 inches, again below average, what is the best way to improve this atleast 2 or 3 inches for now?

well you need to cut down the extra weight no offence. So you need to do hills spints. Bodyweights exercises, and alot of abs probably in your case for core. Just look into vertfreak101.com. i have gained 3 inches in 4 weeks time alone. And my 40 yard dash time has been cut by .3 seconds. So its an amazing program. Take a look into it.

At 14, you have a lot of potential for amazing gains. The first step for young athletes in jump training is to develop strength. This is done in the weight room with squats and other lower body lifts. If you don't have access to weights, 1 leg sqauts, 1 leg stiff-leg deadlifts, and pushing a car are good things you can do without weights. There are other types of training, but they won't be effective until you have strength. See Vertical Leap Training Also, it sounds like you may not be terribly athletic, so make sure to keep playing basketball and other sports to develop coordination and all around athleticism. Good luck.

Yessir, I can take care of you... at 14 I was 5-3 about 110... So def tiny... and I couldn't touch the net either, now at just 5'10" I can hit my head on the rim!
you are an age now where you can start changing things for the better now, and allow puberty to aid in the process. We can work with you to get alot of aid... if you have any more questions send me a message or talk to me on vertfreak101.com or EAT in the link redsoxfan listed above!

Hope to hear from ya man, and If I don't, just remember that hard work and determiniation are the most important things in training, and when mixed with the appropriate training, amazing things can happen.
