Default Official Humble24 Jump Shot Training Topic UPDATE 7/5/08

Ok I'm gonna post videos of me shooting and I know some of you on here are some great shooters so all advice is welcome. I'm gonna keep posting videos and taking advice until I have the correct jump shot form.
GOAL: DEVELOP QUICK RELEASE FUNDAMENTAL JUMPER LIKE ALLEN
HERE'S THE FIRST VID Humble24 Shooting First Vid

HERE'S THE SECOND(DIFFERENT ANGLE) VID
Humble24 Shootin Second Vid(Different Angle)

7/5/08: People are gonna think I'm crazy for shooting like Ray Allen but something told me to try the shooting style and it's working for me, I haven't been this confident as a shooter ever, I'm seeing more shots made but I want to truly master this jumpshot and make it mine.

it seems as if yo have the form fromm bb shooting 2. Do you? Try explaining me how your form is in a written process. My form is more of a basic and repeatable motion. Thats what you want. My stats are this:
3 pt percentage 52% from high school/college
Free throw 94 %
Mid range 71 %
Feild Goal 74 %

Sho a little bit more videos and i will be able to help you more.
BTW how old are you and how tall?

I try to keep my elbow straight, When I shoot everything part of my body is up, guide hand is in chop position.
More vids are coming.

Seems alright , cant see your feet though, if they point towards basket/squared. everything else looks fine, lol i might make one of these shooting vids and post em up see what you guys say.

OFF TOPIC- Is it just me or is that site really slow to load the videos, because i have high speed cable and everything loads fast but that vid paused like 5 times.

Keep your giude hand up after you release the ball. You drop it too quick on the 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Shots 1 and 3 are Dave Hopla calls the guide hand the ''balance hand''. It will help you with your balance.

And watch for your follow-trough going to the side on shots 1 and 6. Focus on the index finger pointing down into the center of the basket after you release the ball.

This video is something to try to relate to
YouTube - Kapono Makes It Look Easy Practicing For Foot Locker 3-Pt Shootout
- has quick & efortless release (uses all the power from his legs by timing his release with his feet coming of the ground)
- his guide hand doesn't drop too quick
- the only shot he missed was short (needed more arc) and maybe to the right (his follow trough wasn't straight, dropped to the right)

Your follow through is pointed off to the side and your entire arm and wrist looks like it tenses up after you shoot it. Guide hand also drops to the side way too quick. Your release looks a bit slow and not very fluid and I'm not too sure how much range you have because it seems like you don't use much legs and a lot of upper body. You could also use some more arc on the ball when you shoot from what I can tell since all your shots are hitting the rim.

Then again, it's kind of hard to critique because your shooting shots from very close, but you should be consistent enough to where your swishing your shots from that close. When you start swishing most of your makes in practice, then you'll have a stroke that your more comfortable with when shooting in games where your accuracy will dip.
