nobody said it was a easy road to going pro. If you play basketball and are acctually dedicated and serious you want to make it pro no matter what happens. Look at earl boykins he is like 5,5 he is still in the NBA. When you think of limits your create them.
I will be in the NBA.

Curtis won't get to 48 anytime soon. He's made great improvements, but that's a little too much. I also don't think he's in the 40's either, but idk. For redsoxfan15, I appreciate how much he has helped people on here, but I doubt his 51 inch story, and he's never proven it to be true.

WTF are you talking about none of us will go to a certain school. I know for a fact none of you people on here go to an american nation level basketball high school. Can you read? I never said you can't go to one, I said you don't go to one.

You need to grow up. Focus on what's important, which is your school work. The people in the nba didn't do that, which is why they are dumb, but were lucky enough to make it to the pros so they don't need to be smart.
holy shit, are u a doctor? are u a scientist? can u see the future? NO! so y do u act like u know everything? did u not fulfil your dreams or something, and now ur just saying people cant do things? i am not nearly 15, and i have AGES to grow. u dont know my genetics, u dont know what i will be like. people dont stop growing when they are 14. and who said i would have a growth spurt over 5 inches? for me to grow doesnt mean i have to have a growth spurt, its a natural thing. 5 or 6 inches in 5 years isnt much. sure, doctors can estimate, but i trust them a lot more than a person who has never even seen me, so i suggest u stop talking of what you dont know, as i said before,i think i can achieve anything. and NBA players arent dumbshits, lots focused in school and had good grades. i got good grades, that dont mean i cant go pro. what am i supposed to play bball in class or something? pfff i might as well pay attention in school. the other day curtis had a 41 inch jump, thats the 40's. i believe redsoxfan, y would he lie? oh and also on the growth thing, i know several people that have had many large growth spurts, so i dnt know who u have been talking to, but ur info is wrong. also i dont have access to weights until im 16 ( gym wont allow it), and i have a 32-34 inch vert and gaining steadily. thats WITHOUT weights, i will get to 48 if i keep training, i know its harder the higher it gets but i dnt have a "beginner" vert....

Not really picking on you a.j.ing, but hope you don't mind me using some of what you said.

This does not stop a person training with weights. If anyone thinks that this is a good excuse to avoid weight training, it isn't. There are many different types of gyms/facilities with different rules and at the very least anyone can buy their own equipment.

I think your 32-34 number is a running 'vert'. Note that this is not really a true vertical jump measurement (one that is comparable against other athlete stats anyway), but everyone here uses it so I guess it is not that misleading. Not sure what your standing vert is but if it is less than 30' that is considered a novice number. If you are a bilateral jumper I estimate you need nigh on 40' standing vert and very good reactive ability and RFD to reach 48' running. Basically you need to be as explosive as Frank Yang and probably lift as much as he did when he did his youtube 40' vert test. Can you be an exception and not be strong and yet have a great vert? Never say never I suppose, but you would be only a handful of people in the world I'd imagine. You'd probably be representing your country in the olympics for track as well. Personally, I have never seen or heard about anyone making it to 30'+ standing vert with just bodyweight exercises and not being really strong. People with 30'+ standing verts will tend to squat and deadlift 2XBW easy once they know the lifts.

about the gym thing, i have looked around and the only exception is 2 hours on a thursday every week. also equipment isnt cheap, and not many people my age have a job or the place to put a weight system. so it is a valid excuse.

yeh ur right, it is my running vert, but my standing isnt much off 30, its about 28 and i still havent finished vjb. i will weight train as soon as i am 16 though, because obviously the gains wont keep coming without strength.

I think everyone should chill.

A.J.ing, you might grow, you might not. Who knows? I THINK that it's really possible, seeing how you're only 14.

The comparing of different leagues is not a big thing.. it's all basketball in the end. We're all here because of one thing. The love for basketball. So chillax dudes.

America has basketball history, which is basically why they're so dominant. In a few years time, other countries will get better. It's like when you think of soccer. What country comes to mind? Brazil. I guess you're bound to compare, but when you think of the headstart America had, it's expected for them to be good.

During the cultural revolution, China had basketball players. They didn't want coaches, because the only ones were Westerners. But it's pretty weird what happened. Workers were the most respected, so whenever the national team played, they asked the workers what they needed to work on. That's why they're lagging behind. They didn't have a history, they didn't have the help.

Anyways go back to your little discussion.. but chill aight?

dude you don't have to answer to shitheads like these. They probably couldnt accomplish thier goals and think everyone else is as talentless and undedicated as them. These guys are one of the many obstacels on your way. Be ready; there will be plenty of pricks like these. and for the growth thing youll probabaly be more than 6'3 if you eat and sleep right. I mean what tha fuck youre 14; men grow till they're 20-21. My uncle was 5.7-5.8(1.72m) when he was a seniour in high school( 18 years old ). He's right now 6.4. And you probably know hedo turkoglu our abbasodor in the NBA. Well he came to the NBA when he was 22 or something and was 6.8(2.02). Hes now 6.10(2.08) so you cant deny real!!! science and proof and believe ignorant people like the guy that told you cant grow and be pro. Fuck him. Just listen to people who know you and you trust and yourself, ok?
Peace and good luck

I don't know if you even read what I said before.

I already said chill.. if you don't chill this thread will have to be closed. I don't wanna do it, cause there's so much conversation, but it's all negative now.

You seem to have done so homework on this so that's all cool man. Honestly I think it sucks you have to wait until you are 16 before lifting. For everyone else who says they cannot access weights, just be honest - have you really tried all your options? I've seen dudes on the net before saying they bought TVP and many other programs as well as jump soles, but also stating that they couldn't afford proper weights. Now that just doesn't make sense.

Anyway, I won't drone on much more. Good luck y'all with making your dreams a reality.

Why did you guys say I didn't accomplish my goals so I'm trying to take it out on others? I'm only 16. I'm working really hard on my vert now and make game but I really don't expect to go pro.

Anyway, good luck getting to 48. I'm really not trying to say you suck and stuff like that, I'm saying the people who say I want to and will make the nba are only going down the road to disappointment.
