Steve Nash and samuel dalembert are canadian. I am not saying it is easy but if you train properly you have a chance.

In my earlier comments, I assumed that (US/Canada) guys meant NBA. NBA strikes me as a whole different level to some professional leagues. If you want to go pro but not play in the NBA, then that's different.

One thing I would say is that some pro players seem to play an awful lot of games for them to be able to dedicate much time to strength training etc. I would have thought that you have more time for that in college/school.
ı agree with you completely. for the strength training etc. part i meant offseason or the leagues in which you don't play as much as in the NBA. But the best option really is college esspecially in my case because in turkey thres a lot of pressure on us guys who want to be educated and go to colloge. We have to study for a HUge exam which is in the end of high school but that doesn't mean all we do is prepare for that. İt just means that high school here is actullay more diffuclut(esspcially good and serious schools şlike mine) than college. So the best option is college

Is anyone here better than James White? Or thinks they will be better than him? He's not in NBA. That's right, he plays in Turkey.

Ajing, MJ didn't play Varsity his freshman/sophomore years. Not because he wasn't good, it was because he was 6'0 with no point guard skills. He went to a nation level high school, which none of us go to, and was too small. He then grew to 6'6 which none of us will do, and he had a 48 inch vert, which none of us will get. He then became an all-american player.

You're most likely not going to get to 6'3. You can't just base it on your parents' height. You've already grown 3 inches since you joined here. That was your growth spurt.

You guys name examples of like 2 people from your country that might make it or have already did ( for canada, theres also jamaal magloire, but him and dalembert are like 7'0 and athletic, and steve nash is 6'3, and really fast and quick.) If only this small amount of people have made it, who basically all have natural abilities, how do you expect to? You guys can become the best shooters you want, I doubt you will even get a shot off against these nba players.

I also hate that euro's play real basketball stuff. I thought the idea was to get the ball in the basket. Shooting 3's is not a "fundamental", which basically 90% euro players can do it in the nba (although compared to us, they are much more athletic).

You might see all these nba players saying anyone can do it, but that's only for their image. Charles Barkley even flat out say it, barely anyone can do what we do no matter how hard they try.

that rubbish. i tell kids all the time they can be whatever they want to be. it isn't for my image at all. i do it because thats what i believe and kids respond to their role models. the nba players know that they have an influence on people and they use to do good. no one is born into the NBA. you have to work to get anything in life. but the right commitment and desire to chase a goal is absolutely necessary. if i want to tell people they can make it i will. and i disagree entirely with you trying to take that dream from anyone.

i also take offense with you compalining about the way europeans play. it is a distinctly different style but i don't think you can disagree that it makes the game interesting. countless times this season i've been blown away by the buzzer beating shots of Turkoglu.

just because you have given up on your dreams doesn't mean you have the right to go around telling other people they won't make it.

I am all for encouraging people to pursue their dreams. I think that a lot can certainly be gained with hard work, smarts and determination. Whether your best is enough remains to be seen as it gets pretty difficult as you raise the level or standard of your sport.

However, it is also very easy for people to proclaim they have so much heart and determination (especially on the net). If history has taught us anything, it is that if you want big time results you need consistency and discipline. I would encourage any serious athlete to keep a training log/journal. Have people critique you and review your training progress. Take that critique to heart like a man. Learn from others and from your mistakes. For those who have journals, well done already - it is a learning tool.

Another beef of mine. So many people with so much determination to boost their vertical and yet refuse to commit to lifting weights. "I have no access to a gym" is such a BS excuse. Where there is a will there is a way.

You're 6'2 playing either forward or center so, it's not elite. You're averaging 6 blocks a game at 6'2 with a 20 inch vert. What a joke.

Anyway, if there's good ballers, that's kind of the point. If these guys are so much better than you, and they most likely will not make it, how are you going to?
blocking aint about how high u get into the air dumbass, its all about timing. ask any1, and i play sf. i can still grow cause my family is pretty tall.

Then why do centers/forwards lead the league in blocks and not guards? Think before you speak dumbass.

Yes, it is about timing, but if you are bigger than everyone else it is much easier to block.

I can tell by your stats that you are a forward or a center, and at 6'2, that proves its not elite competition. NOBODY should be averaging 6 blocks per game no matter what.

And to JMAC, I'm not disrespecting the way euros play, I'm just saying I hate the argument that euros play "real" basketball and the americans don't.

Going Pro is not a Nessesary thing for me.
its a very far fetched thing for any player wether ur good or not.
I play D1 ball and im a pretty decent player (check for me unc charlotte next season) But real ball players know theres other options out there. Overseas, cba ect
IveTried out for an Nba Team ( charlotte bobcats) wen the team developed and will try ot again this yr. before basketball season starts Trust me making the NBA is NOT an easy thing.
But doesnt hurt to Dream
