Thats exactly what ive been saying. Even if you guyz put all your effort and determination, dont think you are the only one who does that. There is alot of other people who are naturally more gifted and who put as much effort in basketball as you. Even if you work hard, your not going to make it if you dont have a naturally gifted talent. And people in the US have way more chances to be drafted in NBA than you guyz from AUstralia, Serbia or Saudi arabia. I dont think there is alot of scouts in those countries. Most of the people in university in USA dont make it to the NBA. i will be really surprised if you could even make it to the university team...

Re: do YOU want to go pro?
from australia, to make it in the nba u gotta go play college. its not that hard, if ur good enough u will gte in. lots of rep teams trade their best players to america for a few years. at the moment we got CJ massinggale and Lester Strong from washington if any of u guys no them. CJ is pretty much nba material and is the best shooter i have ever seen. so really its not too hard to get to america with bball, u just gotta have the skills. and for those who arent athleticaly gifted or physically gifted, then yes it will be harder. im lucky because im gifted physically ( runs in the family ) and im going to be around 6'3, the average height for a point guard. so there is still hope. never give up on yourselves, even though people might be better than u now, u can still be better than them, u might not go pro, but u got something to aim for. i mean MJ didnt even make his school team, so there is hope for almost every1. i know its very unlikely but possible. i hope i will be playing against some of u one day good luck... u gonna need it

This is right on the money. You need skills and physical ability. So practice all those drills, shot hundreds of shots a day and hit those weights. What use is heart and determination if you are not training right?

Most of you guys are like 5'8 with 0 athleticism. I'm sorry, but if you're that small and don't have naturally freakish athleticism, you're not going anywhere. 6'2 ( what I am) is considered a small point guard. I see people on here who are 5'10 playing forward, well here the forwards are like 6'5 at the smallest, most around 6'7.
Of course I want to go pro, but I know it's not going to happen.

dude most of you are right about the all talk no action stuff and the height and position paradocs(6 foot 1 and center pleasseee) but you're way hyping the athleticsm part. Athleticsim is only a small part of the game(not for the nba of course at least in leauges like the ones here in europe in which "real" basketball i.e defense, teamwork is emphasised ) which can be eaisly develpoed if you train right and smart(there is no age limit for it(of course do it before youre 30 ) remeber but there is for fundementalts). SO if you're over 1.83 m and under 16 years old there's still hope: give lots of emphasis on your fundementals(espeacilally dribbling shooting defense game info/smarts etc.) and DON'T over emphasis physical stuff until you're 17 or 18( im not telling you to completly forget about it it should take at most 25% of your sport time) because even if you'Re dwight howard the most important thing is technique and actually keep it siömple and play against peole better than you, ALWAYS. Always keep working even if you're the best in your team, city, league etc. but still think like you will definetly make it .İf you're not aiming NBA believe me; it's NOT "THAT" hard. I'm living in turkey, istanbul and a friend of mine in my team who isn't much better than me( 3 years older than me) will play in florida tech next year.

hey im not being negative im just telling the truth and its; that you can go pro if youre 6foot and 16 now and if you really give emphasis to fundemeatls and not give your whole time to weight trainin and jump training just to dunk. Believe me youll have time to do thata when youre pro because itll be your job to play basketball. Also tha NBA is a whole other level and very hard unless you'Ve started playing serious organbşized basketball very early or you're a phsical freak i.e greg oden tyson chandler dwight howard.

People are rather sensitive about being told flatly they have no chance. We'll be branded as haters, when really we are only stating statistical likelihoods. That said, I think there is nothing wrong with people pursuing their dream. Sort out plan B though, in case it doesn't work out especially if you are looking to be an exception rather than part of the rule.
In my earlier comments, I assumed that (US/Canada) guys meant NBA. NBA strikes me as a whole different level to some professional leagues. If you want to go pro but not play in the NBA, then that's different.
One thing I would say is that some pro players seem to play an awful lot of games for them to be able to dedicate much time to strength training etc. I would have thought that you have more time for that in college/school.
