Default What do you think? (VJB Related)

I am:
5'9
145lbs
Asian
Reach: 86' inches
Running vertical: 36' (37 on a good day)
Standing vertical: 34' (35 on a good day)

I have done AAIII 3 times already. 1st time, I stopped at week 7. 2nd time, I stopped at week 9. 3rd time, I stopped at week 14. I had a 27' vert before starting AAIII. Afterwards, my vertical increased into the mid 30's. (Last time I did it was last summer)

I'm currently on "Intermediate full Reactive focused program" from VJB. I am on Phase II week 3. Before starting this program, I could touch the top of the rim with my fingers but could not hang/pull down the rim. I am able to do so now.
With that in mind, I have a few questions.

Is it okay to use a Smith's Machine to do my iso-metric squats, regular squats, jump squats, barbell lunges, and barbell splits?

What are odds of me climbing into the 40+ range to throw it down?

What is the difference between iso-metric and iso-ballistic squats?

Thanks for any input

i dont reccomend using the smith machine as it gets rid of training the stabalizer muscles.

Thanks for the inputs fellas. I've been going back and forth between the free weight squats and Smiths. (This week is Spring Break and I only have access to a Smith's)

And yes, I do not slack off whatsoever. If I want it, I'll go out and do it to get it with no quit.

Again, thank you guys. Any further inputs would be greatly appreciated.

wow you have a good vert, but i feel bad because it looks like you have short arms. i am 1 inch taller, but my standing reach is 94. anyway my input would be just keep doing what you are doing and you'll be dunking by the end of it.

Thanks once again fellas!

Oh and the question about how long it took me...

Back in 10th grade(I'm a freshman in college now) was when I first discovered AAIII. I did that three times throughout till last summer. So around 2.5 years or so?

The program I'm doing right now does have plyos in it. Thanks for the suggestion though.

nice vert, yeah im currently doing VJB intermediate reactive, im heading into the last phase tomorrow, i wouldn't suggest the smith machine for any of those, just do it with an olympic bar.

Btw to any1 reading this thread, take note of his vertical and how long its taken him to get there, realisticly the more time you put into it and the more consistent you stay the better your gains are gonna be, btw i think its possible for a 40" running, im hoping for a low-mid 40 running, prolly at about 37 inches before program and 40~ inches during first 2 phases, i havent jumped above about 38 for a while now, maybe 2 months.
