i just started vjb and one of my friends who have been using it for 3 weeks or so told me that during certain exercises u should hold dumbells for extra resistance. He said but don't use like 40 lbs on each hand just like 8 lbs on each hand thats it is that good or bad? what do u guys think of that idea

for some of the exercises that are too easy, it's a great idea to add some more resistance.

ok i was going to add some weight like 8 lb in each hand for the 4 star drill, shalom, ricochet, and then im not sure of the name but the drill where u sit and jump then sit again, thats the best exercise in my opinion i can really feel it work, how are those with extra resistance again i want to use 8 lb not like 30 or 40 lbs per hand

Why would you add more resistance? You want to do it as fast and as powerful as possible. If it's too easy, push yourself to do it faster and more powerful.

IMO, having a dumbbell in your hand would ruin your jumping technique, and take away from your plyo gains.

i agree with jcs..unless you have a weight belt or something..i think dumbells could ruin your jumping technique, and you might lose balance while jumping..

if you're finding it tooo easy push the ground harder. move faster, and make sure you fly! =D

Yea, in any kind of strength training, adding more weight usually can only help unless you are trying to do it at a certain speed. In Plyos, you do not want any extra weight.
