Default Shot Release

Hi
I know that when you shoot ur supposed to have your hand pointing above and at the basket. But I find whem I shoot (im left handed) I follow through to the left side. Anything I can do to correct this?

im also left handed and this used to happen to me... just shift your hand till its central after your shot.. eventually muscle memory will kick in and your hand will be going straight...

it doesnt really matter too much as long as the index and middle finger are above and inline with the rim... hope this helps

I've been trying that (correcting my form after the shot) but I get so frustrated that I stop doing it. I probably should just do it after every shot, every day, not just once in a while.

yeah just keep doing it everyday for a couple of hours.. get somebody to help you rebound if you can so you can take more shots in a shorter space of time... dont stop if you get annoyed... dont let your mind beat you... keep working on it.. also dont shoot from downtown straight away.. keep them inside the key because trying long shots spoils your progression...

always remember Form Before Range!!

ballapix can u dunk? u dont play for northumbria uni do ya? beat em saturday didnt we and r u next in line for eagles bbl team?

with ur shot what happens to everyone is ur wrist naturally deviates outwards (ulnar deviation) so ur left hand the wrist tilts to the left a bit, and us right handers the wrist tilts to the right a bit when setting up to shoot ie just BEFORE the shot and u flex ur wrist. naturally if u flex ur wrist like this its not getting a straight flick off

so this may feel unnatural but it works for me everytime im deviating my wrist to the right when shooting..and it feels like ur wrist is straight so you wonder whats wrong..but literally sideways flex (radial deviate) ur wrist inwards when gripping the ball in a shooting format. ull b able to c ur wrist is in a perfect line with ur forearm and shoot like that..feels weird at first but normal for me now

i've haf the same problem, try to sit down on your knees infront of the basket (close) and just shoot with one arm only and keep doing it with the right tecnique (spelling?) 'till you are used to it! gl

haha karnell thats roughly what i do. when my shot goes off, or when i wanna practice my form, i stand about 4-6ft from the basket, and i just stand there and hold the ball, and shoot it really slowly, making sure im using correct form. if my other hand gets in the way, i shoot 1-handed, making sure i dont use my other hand in shooting too.

i reckon its the best method to practice form. its a slow motion so you can see easily if you're doing something wrong.
