Aight, this is a commonly asked question, so lets get it out of the way in respect to everyone asking it, and all the members who always have to answer it time n time again for them.
I'm not going to go too into detail with this, ill try to put it plainly so its easy to understand and follow.
Much of this is from VJB and other sources, but most of u don't like 2 read and do you're own research so i made it easy 4 ya'll.
any suggestions/comments feel free to post
Additional info is always welcome.
2 legged Jumping technique(off jumpstop)
1.In the run up, try pick up as much speed as u can before u go into the jumpstop.
The faster u go, the better.
Approach the target with as much momentum as u can build up.
Make the last few strides as long as u can.
2.When you hop into the jump stop, off the last step, try cover as much distance as u can in that stride, while still staying very low to the ground.
Drop down into the jump stop, a 1/4 squat is enough.
Do not bend your knees too much, and don't go too low, limit time spent in the jump stop as much as u can,the less time it takes 4 u to come down and up from the jumpstop, the better.
Push off with as much force as u can muster.the point is to try convert all the horizontal energy built up in the run up into the vertical jump.
3.Just before leaving the ground, push through with your toes, as if u are trying to make holes in the ground with them.
Try not to lock your knees in the air, let them come up as smoothly as they can.
4.When rising, force fully bring your arms up,a very strong arm swing action will assist the overall jump and get u more momentum, taking you a bit higher.

1 legged Jumping technique
1.Run as fast as u can to build up momentum prior to taking off.
Long, bouncy steps are the key.(watch Stefan Holm run up into high jump)
2.Plant the jumping leg(lead foot)just below your center of gravity.
Do not plant the jumping leg too far ahead, it should be just a step ahead of the rest of your body, but still a lengthy enough stride to get enough power to get up.
Keep your hips high, don't bend your jumping leg too much and don't push off hard like u would with a 2 legged jump.
Make sure on the last few steps u attempt for maximum stride.
The quiter u leave the ground, and the less noise u make, the better.
No heavy,noisy pounding steps.
3.Upon leaving the ground, drive your opposite leg up powerfully bringing up the knee hard to increase momentum.
4.Bring the opposite arm up powerfully, this will help aid the knee drive.
Most importantly, just try to execute the whole action as smoothly and as effortly as possible. Think of how Clyde drexler or george Gervin would float into the lane to do a finger roll.Think of it as u 'gliding'.

try to focus on it bit by bit, master each point one by one instead of trying to do it all in one go.
After a lot of PEFRECT practice u should master both techniques.
Remember not to practice to failure, rather to just get yourself comfortable with the entire process so it will come naturally after time.
executing the correct jumping technique can add up to 5 inches alone onto ones vertical jump, if not mastered before hand.
This is good for anyone looking to get an extra few inches, if they are close to grabbing rim or dunking.
GOOD LUCK, AND HAVE FUN AT IT!!!!!!!!!
