Yeah Michael did say that but that's why he had Tim S. Grover (founder of ATTACK Athletics) be his personal trainer. He did train his vert to 48" but he did it indirectly because he just did what he was told to do there's plenty of pictures of him training...why would he endorse something he never used?

Starting Novice Weights + Upperbody

Ok the Jump Attack Program that MJ does is 6 weeks long (12 if your new to weights) and it's twice a week. I do the workout the key they say is the lift jump stretch sequence. (I.E...squats then deep knee bend jumps and the pull the leg back stretch) After the actual program then I do the 10 minute P.P.T. Band because it's only 10 minutes and it's focus is on ankle flexibility and super-stretching which they say the top 3 vert joints is ankle-knee-then the hips
