Default Standing versus Running Verts

I've seen lots of people on this site with standing verts of about 20 or so inches, and a running vert of about 30. Personally my running vert is about 30 or 31, and my standing is 29. Is this a case of me being odd or of people mismeasuring their running verts because of the nature of how easy it is to have numbers falsified/inflated?
And generally what's the difference (ratio wise) of standing to running vert?
Hows about with 1 step lead up to a full fledged run up.

well i know my running vert is really about 6 inches or more above my vj. I think the vertical leap depends more on ur plyometric ability, maybe if you focused more on plyos your running vj would go up.

usually a well trained athlete in both strength and RFD has about 5-6" difference... those who show higher numbers are often weak when it comes to leg strength. you don't see too many high flyers that are in the 40s or high 30s that don't have at least a 30" standing... take me for instance... started w/ weights (i only lifted upper body my earlier years really, except 1 summer doin 1/4 squats lol) w/ my legs and i am testing my max squat and dlift in a week (hoping to hit 285# squat-parallel and 335# dlift - mind you, i never trained them really)... before i lifted i had a 23" standing and 32" running... its been 12 weeks and its lookin like a 29" standing... (hoping for 30") and 35"+ running... but remind you i haven't done any RFD training in three years. that's my next phase... when i hit my 40" again i'll post a vid.. until then if want to see any of my training u'll have to come to my site.

my standing is about 22" the last time i measured (even though my legs were still quite fatigued) and my running..well i JUST touched my basketball ring at home when i put it on 9 and a half foot..so if i take it off my reach it'd be about 27" though its not 100% accurate. but that was at my highest, i cant do it very often.
