I'm not sure we have the same understanding of what a dynamic warm-up is. My dynamic-warm up incorporates dynamic stretching exercises (lunge-to-balance, carioca, skipping, marching etc), agility, jump training, core exercises, and speed training to prior to working on basketball skills.
I don't know the technical definition for dynamic, but my understanding is it's exercises that incorporate athletic movements that get your muscles ready to play ball. My trainer has me do the static stretches (stuff like touching my toes) after we work out. He says it helps relieve lactic acid build-up. Not really sure though, I've been looking online and see conflicting viewpoints on why it's important after exercising, but everyone seems to agree that it is important.
It's true that everyone should do a warm-up that gets their whole body ready to play, but I haven't seen too many players doing it. I guess you and I are one of the few. This is a great
blog my trainer pointed me too that breaks down effective, long-term athletic development.
