You can't.
There's two routines there and that needs to be properly followed in order for you to get maximal gains. I would go with Westside for simply improving your basketball playing, while also getting gains on your vertical. Not saying VJB is a better program or anything, but I prefer WS4SB for preparing and improving for basketball. Great program.

As to the nutrition part, that will be up to you to read about on. There's lots and lots of factors you need to put into diet, such as whether you are bulking, or trying to keep the bodyfat low while gaining muscle, etc etc. The list goes on and on. I would recommend you to visit Bodybuilding.com Forums - Bodybuilding And Fitness Board and go to their nutrition section, which has a lot of information about pre-workout meals, post-workout meals etc, and you can also just ask questions. I'm not qualified enough to give you a detailed exaplanation, so I'll just point you in the direction. Good luck.

Don't listen to any other bull...of course you can do both programs. I did defranco's program along with kelly's ( Kelly's on M and Thurs and Defrancos on Tues and F) and had ridiculous results. Make sure you get 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyfat per day. So if you weigh 150 get 150 grams of protein per day. You can try glutamine and creatine too and make sure you get a 1 a day multivitamin so you get all your nutrients for max results.

Both programs at the same time would be very taxing though wouldn't they? If you get crazy gains, it's beginner gains. And not to mention that is teetering on over-training b/c you're not giving your body enough time to recover between workouts. And I'm talking about general body recovery. Not just your arms or your legs individually. B/c they both intertwine.
