actual strength to do plyos
today i had an interview with another strength coach i was told not to release his name. as we know you thought you needed to squat 1.5 bodyweight to do plyos. he said if you work your way up to different levels of plyo training you can be doing high depth jumps. he was also telling me how he thought coaches were misguiding people to believing you needed this strength, and how people in the nba can dunk and have very high verts and not even be able to squat there 1.5 bodyweight, and also agreed with me on bodyweight strength training, he reccomended some strength coaches to talk with and ill ask him for some more info. if you have any i mean really important questions about training i will contact these people and get info. but before you ask a question make sure you say if you want me or some trainer to answer it, they are way more advanced i am only accepting the next five questions sent to me, they must be important.i thought i would tell you this and sorry for the length orf the messages.you must post the questions on this thread. i wil try to get them answered.

Re: actual strength to do plyos
i believe body weight exercises are a hell of a load better than weights for your vert. my opinion some will argue otherwise but life goes on.

we all know the best programs to follow these are the ones i like, tvp, vjb, and i like jumping advantage, and athletic advantage, they are all good and i reccomend them, but i think vjb is overall good for everyone it is a one size fits all program.

no weights can be better for your vertical, if you have access to them but you have to do 45-60 percent 1 rep. and the main exercises deadlifts and squats are all extremely bad for your body deadlifts kill your back even if you do them correct and lock your back, squats are bad for upper back and sometimes neck. but look at bodyweight exercises they are overall safe and there explosively done, and there are many different levels of exercises that it can keep you working for years but. and anyways squatting 1.5 and doing 5 pistol squats are similer and both challenge the body to keep getting stronger. i have mentioned to you this before why come gymnasts who never worked out with weights can go into a gym and lift a ton and they have never lifted before. so both the forms are good but strength training may win but just by a little bit because of the power output it gives you. but you can do both to get ready for plyos.
