Newbie wanting to gain in my vert!! Please help
Hello all I have been reading topic in this forum for about a week and I like all that I read on here. All you guys are very helpful. I am asking for some help. I have a pair of jumpsoles that I just got from my friend and I have no clue what exercises to do. Also I see you guys talk about the VJB and I wanted to know what this was and if I could get it from someone. I am 26 and weigh 315 i am losing weight and trying to get back to how i was. I have never been able to dunk but it is a goal i want to achieve in my life. Thank you all for your help in advance.

More or less, we have the same problem. Im more or less your age and I guess still overweight. Im 5'7 and I still weigh 170, a drop of around 40 pounds from 8 months to a year ago. In any case, although I have the programs, I have not started on any since most members have advised me to lose more weight or to have 10% or less body fat before I do the programs.
If you do the programs at your current out of shape weight, you will compound your problems and further increase your chances of injury.
I suggest losing weight first. Losing the weight itself will increase your vert.

ok well u gotta lose weight, start dieting, and exercising, how tall are u? well go on a strict diet and exercise regime, keep going for about 6 months or so and u will feel great and should be in much better shape and be ready for the programs. by then ur vert will have increased anyway. once u are a lot fitter i can give u the workout for jumpsoles. good luck man dont give up

its ok for anybody to use programs... but i dont really see the point in using them they all claim that you will gain 8" minimum... but i have had friends do them and not gain that much. the best thing to do is let it come naturally when your young (like i did) and if you reach your peak and still cant dunk then let it be.

what are you talking about ballapix? not anyone can use them, some claim 8 inches minimum but we know what the good ones are, i havent even finished my 12 week one and i have gained 8 - 10 inches. if u are overweight or have a medical condition then you shouldnt do them, unless ur physician says u can. and to the guys thats lyk 5'6 130 yeh thats fine to start.

Thank you guys for the advice I am 6'1" I have played sports all my life and I am an athletic person and still play ball in leagues on sundays at a competitive pace. I thought using my weight now will help my vert even more while i am losing weight.

That's what I was thinking too but I don't want to strain my knees. They get sore when I play too much pick up basketball already. Well, if someone can shed more light on it or would advise on using the existing add-on weight, I can probably be open to more ideas from the people who have used the programs.
By the way, have you checked how much weight or waistline inches do you have to lose to get to 10% bodyfat?

A healthy weight for a guy 6'1 is between 180-200 pounds. If you can get down to that, that would be at least 5-6 inches worth of vert. coz that will mean youll have to move only 2/3 of your previous bodyweight.
