No, it is not like the squat. It works basically the same muscles, but not as well, and it does not work the stabilizers, which are very important for vertical jump training. Gains on a leg press do not really carry over well to the squat for the same reason (maybe a little bit), but squat gains carry over to basically every lower body lift, and jumping.

If you really cannot squat, 1.5x bodyweight on the squat would be 3x bodyweight on the leg press (It's actually a little more for some people) In that picture, the guy isn't going deep enough either. Just like the squat, you want to break parallel.

I'm not saying the leg press is bad, but with all the squat variations and deadlift variations, theres no reason to really do it. If you are having trouble with the bar, you really shouldn't be leg pressing, because your stabilizers are weak. Just practice squatting with low weight.

even lifting twice the weight on the legpress it still does not compare to the squat.

I also ordered adenotrex, the 2 month supply. I honestly want to doubt it and not believe this stuff but i just couldnt resist but to try it and its going to be here at the end of the week. Also like other posts i have read i am not going to just sit around when i take this pill, i play basketball about 5-6 times a week for about 3 hours each day and then i work on the program i ordered called THE VERTICAL PROJECT. I cant see me not gaining inches when i implement the adenotrex with the vertical project so in the long run ill gain inches regardless. Currently i cannot dunk a ball but i can stand under the basket and grab rim with both hands without taking any steps. I am also using jumpsoles so as you guys can probly tell i want to dunk really bad im only 5''11 but i can jump higher than alot of guys my same age who are like 6''3 6''4 because i work twice as hard as any of them. WELL WISH ME LUCK ILL KEEP U GUYS INFORMED I ALSO AM LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM OTHERS ON HEAR WHO ARE TRYING ADENOTREX!!

Then you are going to find squats very tough to start with. If you really believe squatting restricts your growth (which I disagree with), work you abs and lower back (e.g. back raises, hyperextensions) in the mean time. A very strong core will make it much easier to squat with good form.

Almost forgot. Pull ups (palms facing away) help with squatting too (keeps the upper back tight). Do those as well. Lower back is more important though.
