You can decide a course you will go and do this, first like 10 yards fast small steps, then slide to the left/right, fast steps again, slide the other way, small steps then sprint 100% as long as you like.

I did this a couple of times a day 3 days a week last summer and it improved my footwork, speed and defence goodluck!

BTW; After you've done it IF you're at a basketball hoop/court shoot 10 free throws will make it game like since you're tired !

Ohhhhh I know what you're sayin'. Got'cha

I been doin' dis:

(Gotta' picture a big five dotted dice beneath your feet)

You know how a five dotted dice is? 1 on each corner and one in the middle

I stand in the middle, both legs together
Then I jump forward, spreadin' both legs (no homo) so that my left foot hit the top left dot of the dice and my right foot hit the top right dot of the dice
Then I jump back in the middle, feet together, and I do the same, jumpin' backwards; left foot hit the bottom left dot, right foot hittin the bottom right dot

It improved my footwork, stretched my legs a bit and also pumped up the muscle. (Just not the best resort but very useful. I just do it 10 times)
