yes there is a very good chance,the vast majority of basketballers/jump enthusiasts dont know the correct technique

its a long term thing to work on,may take some time,but it will pay off.

even some advandced jumpers can make use of this.

One of the things I've noticed from my personal experience is when I go for a dunk, I try to lower my body about an inch or two more than I usually do, to easily "pull" an inch or two to my vertical leap.

I'll explain that again. If I go for a dunk, and I want to jump with both legs. What I'll do is, just crouch a little more than I usually do before I jump, and I see myself jumping about an inch or two higher.

3.Just before leaving the ground,push through with your toes,as if u are trying to make holes in the ground with them.try not to lock your knees in the air,let them come up as smoothly as they can.
4.when rising,forecfully bring your arms up,a very strong arm swing action will assist the overall jump and get u more momentum.

1 legged Jumping technique
1.Run as fast as u can to build up momentum prio to taking off.Long,bouncy steps are the key.(watch stefan holm run up into high jump)
2.Plant the jumping leg(lead foot)just below your center of gravity.Do not plant the jumping leg too far ahead,it should be just a step ahead of the rest of your body,but still a lengthy enough stride to get enough power to get up.keep your hips high,dont bend your jumping leg too much and dont push off hard like u would with a 2 legged jump.make sure on the last few steps u attempt for maximum stride.the quiter u leave the ground,or less noise u make,the better.No heavy,noisy pounding steps.
3.Upon leaving the ground,drive your opposite leg up powerfully bringing up the knee hard to increase momentum.
4.bring the opposite arm up powerfully,this will help aid the knee drive.

Most importantly,just try to execute the whole action as smoothly and as effortly as possible.Think of how Clyde drexler or george Gervin would float into the lane to do a finger roll.Think of it as u 'gliding'.

master each point one by one instead of trying to do it all in one go.
After a lot of PEFRECT practice u should master both techniques.remember not to practice to failure,rather to just get yourself comfortable with the entire process so it will come naturally after time.
executing the correct jumping technique can add up to 5 inches alone onto ones vertical jump.

I think my problem is... I dont know where to jump and I barely can hold the ball steady enough to get comf'table in the air.

I jump off my right leg and dunk with my left hand.

And sometime my leg give out on me before my dunk, maybe because I bend it too much

Also somtimes when I get ready to dunk I end up runnin pass the hoop instead of attemptin lol maybe its just a mental thing.

What I wanna know is, basically, where do I jump from, how do I hold the ball when dunkin, and how do I practice dunkin'? Just tell me what you think I need to do in order to accomplish my goals

just a little tip I learned. A good practice for jumping is to jump from directly underneath the basket ( no run up) and try to dunk a tennis ball or just grab rim. Then go back to your regular jumping I guarantee you will see an improvement.

When you guys pull your arms back to get ready to jump, do your arms typically stay straight, or do they bend? I've looking at a lot of video's on youtube lately and it seems like whoever keeps their arms straight jumps higher. Does keeping your arms straight have any correlation into jumping higher?

Keep arms straight - more natural that way anyway.
