I thought so, I could already grab the rim before doing air alert. found another thing on youtube though. An instructore named "Funk Roberts". Did some of the excercises and felt it was doing something, I will continue with them.
definatley causes injuries. I did it for 4 weeks then quit for 2 to recover. was having major pain in my knees and legs and couldn't even run. my legs did get bigger and more muscular but I don't think it was worth the pain. I don't think I gained much hops either (didn't test it before starting though)
Air Alert will only get gains for new jumpers. Nearly all of the drills require the participant to "pace themselves" which basically means that you are lowering intensity to make way for repetition. Non-intense repetitive tasks have very little place in vertical jump training. Explosiveness is king in vertical jumping. All training must thus follow that mode. Anytime you pace yourself in vertical jump training you risk training your endurance and not your explosion. Nearly everyone falls into that trap as it feels somewhat counterintuitive to train correctly. Think about a sprinter... would they ever train for the 100m dash by running 2 miles?
