I have gained 13 inches (from 23 to 36) in 11 months. i didn't follow any program because I am often away from home and would struggle for consistency. I did however buy and read VJB, TVP, Ath Adv and Jump Experts, as well as quite a few books and plenty of internet research to learn as much as I could. Consequently my training was based mostly on what was available. So lots of stair stuff in hotels, sprints and plyos in parks etc. Interestingly in this time my deadlift has gone up by 176 pounds but my squat has gone up by only 35 pounds. A big part of this is probably due to me never having deadlifted before so the development of nueral pathways would have made a huge difference. I also started to use lifting straps (instant 90 pound increase on the deadlift there). One other reason for the huge deadlift improvement was probably due to the fact that most hotels I stay in at least have a barbell (mostly for bench press I believe) but no squat rack so as a result I tended to do a lot more deadlifting.

If I had to make any observations about my training it is these:

1) It is very easy to over do plyos - twice I had to to take 2 weeks off after doing too much plyos when I thought I was barely doing any. As such I don't do depth jumps at all anymore
2) Getting stronger was I believe the biggest contributor to my gains (Kelly Baggett take a bow - once again)
3) My basketball game has improved out of sight. I honestly cannot beleive how much of a difference it has made to my speed, rebounding, shooting, defence, and confidence. In my teams that I play in (only social with friends so nothing too special) I have gone from being a solid shooter, passer and ball handler to being our number 1 scorer, our best defender both on and off the ball, an over achieving rebounder, and deadly on the break.

All in all - i have loved the payoffs from all the hard work I have put in.

Cheers

JDub

For me, definitely, just by playing competitive basketball worked, however, I have done several programs on the net. Plus, I am a track and field high jumper.

well, from playing bball my vert increased alot but it also increases when u get older anyway. so when i was 12 or so i used to do lots of calve raisers in front of the tv and that got me an inch or 2. then i did aa2 for 4 weeks and stopped but i might have got an inch or 2 off that also and then i just played bball for ages and had a 24 inch vert. now im pretty much finish the 1st half of vjb beginners plyometrics and bodyweight and my standing vert has gone from 24 to around 26 inches and my running from 24 to 27 or 28 inches so im happy with that so far im going to the stadium today, i gotta see how well i can dunk on the lowered rims
