What part of your knee did you specifically injure?

isnt soft tissue damage the same thing as a sprain or something?well if it is u gotta remember that P.R.I.C.E thing -
Protect: Protect the affected part from further injury.

Rest: Stop all activities which cause pain to the sprained area.

Ice: Apply ice to the area several times a day, but never for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. Protect the skin while preventing the swelling.

Compression: Wrap the sprained area to reduce swelling. Cold water will do also.

Elevation: Keep the sprained area as close to the level of the heart as is conveniently possible.
if its not a sprain than my bad

A couple of supplements that will help with soft tissue injuries are Wobenzym (sp?) and bromelain. I dealt with tendinitis in my left knee at the end of my career, and these compounds seemed to reduce the inflamation and discomfort. Wobenzym is a brand name, and bromelain can be purchased as a supp, but also is found in whole foods such as pineapples. As previously stated by others, you can't go wrong with ice and rest also.

at school we got told to use rice as soon a something happens. rest, ice, elevation compression but if its past that i guess u should just try and stay off it and maybe bandage it up. also try those supplements that some1 said about earlier

Tendinitis is a tough one. Unfortunately, most of the time you have to rest it for a few weeks to let it heal. Sometimes, it is a result of the patella not tracking properly, and to solve this you need to strengthen the vastus medialis (the tear-drop shaped muscle just above the knee). Additionally, you can buy a foam roller, which is invaluable in re-lengthening chronic, tight muscle tissue in the hip flexors, glutes and IT Band which also contribute to improper tracking of the patella.
