If any bball players are serious about basketball they should read the vertical jump bible many times and find out what you need either weight training or plyometric training!!!!! and of course since i can tell that none of us are playing on the nba we all need weight training. I used to be able to dunk about 3 years ago and all i did was plyometrics like jumpsoles and airalert but i was skinny no body or muscle and i was very weak i weighed around 155lbs and i suffered many rolled ankles and near injuries so i stopped doing them right now i began weight training and i currently squat 1.5 times my body weight i am 5' 11'' and weigh 180lbs and i can hang from the rim i am trying to either get down to 170 or 175 depending how i feel about my quickness and strength, well anyways my ultimate goal is to squat 4 times my body weight but that will take me many months if not a year and a half but its doable. I recommend all of you to start squatting and doing deadlifts ur first goal should be to squat and deadlift 1.5 times ur body weight and then 2 times and so on. I will start doing plyometrics after i squat and deadlift 4 times my body weight.

Na Im Not Doing Plyos Till I Can Do At Least 3 Times And Then I Would Be Probably Already Dunking By Then Cause I Can Almost Dunk It By Doing 1.5 Times So When I Do Twice Ill Be Dunking With No Grace But Ill Be Dunking Then If I Can Do 3 Times Ill Be Doing Some Cool Stuff By Then Plyos Wont Be In My Mind Ill Do Them If I Can Do At Least 3 Times

Could some1 explain all this deadlift shit what it means and the squating of 1.5 times ur body weight so what if u can squat that much whats it meant to do if its strengthenin ur legs then ur doin weights on ur legs and at 5,11 that aint good cause weight trainin on legs stunts ur growth u wotn grow now more btu anywayz can some1 explain.

weight lifting does not stunt growth period. And squatting 1.5 your body weight helps make your legs stronger when you make contact with the floor in plyometrics so you dont injure yourselves and no matter what people told you there are stretches you can do to make your self taller it does have to do with genetics but you can still grow even if your growth plated stop.

Aiight cool now can u explain the whole dead weight thing for me plz i dont get it and how much is 1.5 my body weight how do i calculate it. How often would you have to squat and how many resp sets etc.

well i can aswer one question for u; to find 1.5 of ure bodyweight, take a calculator and multiply ure current bodyweight by 1.5.....that should give u the answer

you choose the sets and reps wheather your strength training or power training take 1 to 2 days off inbetween workouts
