Should I quit?

Yo guys I really need your opinions on this, I'm on a border line right now. I've been playing ball for almost 2 years now. The first 6 months I started playing I went to a camp for 1 week then unbelievably they invited me to play for their provincial league. After the camp I played in a league for about another 6 months. Then in March provincials came and I made the team. By then I'd been playing for about a year. Anyways every time I play a game I'm the most motivated one on the court. I might not be the best one on the court but I'm sure I'm the most motivated. If people hadn't told me I sucked over the while I've been playing then it would have gotten me nowhere. In June I had a 3 on 3 tournament where my dad kept telling me not to join because " I wasn't good enough". My team ended up winning 3 games and losing 1. After I told him he didn't say shit. Now I made the school team and he's telling me to quit playing ball or I'll regret it forever. He said it'll be the biggest mistake I've made. It's like he has a grudge against basketball, he just sees me touch a ball "You think about ball too much, Go Study" Man I average 5 A's per term. He wants me to quit ball to fucn get him straight A's. What do y'all think? Quit ball and forget about it? Or Keep ballin

I'd say have a sit down and bring it up to his face. Man to man talk it out. Don't let him think he's in your head and your sulking around worrying about it. Confront him with how ya feel. He'll respect you more and probably give you more freedom to do what you want.

Man, whatever you do don't give up, i played from 6 to 12 and when i was 12 i was in the division 1 rep team for the under 14s and was averaging 15 ppg and was shooting 51 % from beyond the arc. But i didnt like the coach and the way he ran it so i decided not to play anymore. and a person who played in my team who i was better than is now playin in the Australian Institute of Sport. But i've gotten back into it but i would of gotten so far by now if i hadn't gave up, so im basically starting from stratch again.

Don't quit. Use any frustrations you have off the court as fuel to make you work harder on your game.

well prove him wrong then and practice even more. become the best u can be. imagine if u became pro, that would show him how much u suck, just use that to motivae u. keep studying tho but keep ballin

Same thing with me, i rekon you should just tell him that you'll get straight A's along with being pro. Remember its your future, bask in your youth while you still can, talk to your dad its jus like my mum she thinks im in to basketball so much and thinks im dumb, so i believe one day ill look down on em and be rich as long as i study hard and play ball, bball happens to be my second way of being rich lol

Don't quit man,just tell your dad 2 fuck off...it's your life,not his.I am/was in the same position,my dad doesn't want me 2 be a baller,just a scientist or a programmer or sumt'n...but i don't give a rats ass!And you know what,right now you think basketball is everything in your life...but sooner or later your gonna find out how wrong you are.For about 4 years i was like:"I have 2 be a professional baller,there is no other job i could do blablabla"...that just bullshit!
It's very, very, very hard for you 2 go pro,but you can always try...
As for me,im gonna stick with playing ball for fun,and not for money...gonna practice my skills 2 be the best streetballer in Serbia,improve my dunking,handles and overall skills...go for the tryouts next time 2 play against And1.
