It's a matter of preferance, but the players with a high release point are usually all big men or wing players, you don't see shorter guards with that type of release, because it's hard to have much range on your jumper with that type of release and not being all that tall or incredibly strong.

Really, you should just stick to the shot you have if it works for you. Instead of changing your form, you should work on creating space for your jumper and understanding how to get open better. The high release point only really helps in cases where you're shooting with a hand in your face, unless you're an amazing shooter, you shouldn't be shooting those types of shots very often anyways.

If you have 8.5 weeks to get your form right then that will be plenty. I used to have terrible form but in 2 weeks I transformed it into NBA form (my friend said that to me when he saw me shoot). To get good form I just did one handed shooting about five feet from the basket. This developed me good form.

perfect form is where you make a window for your eyes to look through
the ball will be over the head and it will be hard to block

I've decided instead of moving it that far up i will only move it alittle bit up as i am not comfortable going that high. Also i will probably be a pg so i think i will not have to take too many hard shots. i will work on dribbling instead.
