Talking Summer Basketball Training

First of all, i'd just like to ask two question.
1. Is it possible to have vertical jumping gains while your injured? I was injured four times in a row somehow . First i got my hip growth plate slightly separated and irritated. That took about 4 weeks to heal. I play basketball for the first time in 4 weeks and get an ankle sprain which took a week. Then i played a rec basketball game. I got a contusion on my hip, that took a week. I play another rec basketball game and i get another contusion on the same hip side. So basically everytime i got healthy i got injured within a day of being healthy. So now i think i'm finally healed. Anyways, my reach was 7' 4" and now its 7' 6.5" and i actually think i measured wrong, but you'll see in my next question. Before when i just stood and jumped i was about 3-4 inches away from the rim. Now i can touch rim barely if i just stand and jump. Before if i took a 10 step running start i was 1 inch under the rim. Now i can almost grab rim with only a 2-3 step jog. I didn't find out if i could actually grab rim because i was in a game at the rec. I might be able to idk. But how could this happen. It can't be because of my reach.

2. Before my wingspan was 6' .5". Now its 6' 1.5". This is strange because before my reach was 7'4" but now its 7'6.5". Can that happen? lol I'm just wondering for your reach your supposed to reach up as high as you can like streching right? Your not supposed to be just comfortable right?

K now my real question =P lol
I'm 14 and i'm gonna try out for JV next year (my sophmore year). I have about 6-7 hours that i can do basketball stuff everyday. How much time should i actually play? How much time should i do vertical stuff, or do i not need any? I just really want to get alittle better upper body strength, but lower would be cool too. Should i do VJB things? I am gonna actually plan all this out but i think i have about 8 weeks for summer. I'm gonna do like running and stuff to get my body fat down too. I used to be 5 8 and 130 and now i'm 5 9.5 and 145 so i'm gonna slim down a bit. Thanks.

ya im wondering about some schedules too.

to answer ur first question, i think you can still increase vert DEPEnDING on the injury. ex; if you sprained an ankle, you could maybe still go to gym and do squats but probaly not any plyometrics.

squats on a sprained ancle.... the pain would be unbearable.

I think you should work on your shooting and especially ball handling skill. Ball handling is sooo important. Sometimes overlooked by dunking. Your not gonna dunk next year. You can still do vert programs but do ball handling most. For your height thats what you need right now. If you can go where ever you want on the court. You can dominate. You need shooting too because people will back off of you when you have handles. Good lUck

If your injured on your lower body, dont do anything that requires heavy weight bearing on your lower body, do upper body stuff.

Me, I wouldnt do anything while I am injured anywhere in my legs. I learned that the hard way!

Theres no certain limit to how much you can play. you play until you cant play no more... then you play some more. so dont go asking how long you should be playing

Ok, trust me i'm committed. Your not the one coming off of 5 injuries that took 9 weeks to heal. I'm not gonna get injured again because i only have the summer to get better cuz of school and everything. I almost had to skip the summer because i almost had a stress fracture but the doctors caught it and stopped me from getting it.
