are u coaching or is this for the team u play in? well yeh i guess there are plays u can do. google the basketball play called line. there are heaps of different variations. we use it all the time for me to shoot a 3. u can set up different offences like 1,4 high, if they are playing slack d then u can get an open jumper easy enough. and coz they are small they will probably be fast, get the pick and roll working coz the defender probably wont catch them, and they shouldnt be afraid to take it to the ring, coz lots of the time, the big guys will get picked for fouls more than the little ones.

half court plays don't exist, as of such but you can create them. for them to work though you need a very discipline team and you can't really run them repeatedly, is more of a coach says you do kind of play then you go back to a normal set up. i have a couple i use with my team just to utilise our fast point guard. the major advantage is they work against most zones and man to man D as well

yeh sure i can get you them. i'll post them up when i have a bit more time. my favourtie one is just a really simple idea but you need a really fast guard to be able to pull it off. if you have one it works like a dream the D just collapses on it.

when you are coaching them you have to bear in mind that the D will probably wise up to it at some point and start cheating the play so try and rotate as much as possible. also if they aren't getting it just scrap it and do something else that is a bit more relevant for them.

sorry sari completely forgot about this thread.

had a better idea don't bother with plays. what you want to do is create a really strong fundamental team at that age. what you want to do is set them up in a 5 out formation. if use a rotation system then everyone can paly everywhere at that age i can safely assume you will have very few if any players that will be ina definate set position. by using a 5 out rotary set up you will be able to get everyone comfortable with perimeter play and posting up. it will also teach shooting, passing, getting free, dribbling, screening/picking and so on and so forth.
although this may seem a lax and easy approach this will be much better for your players in the long run as they will have a more rounded game.
this is how we run youth teams in England and Europe which is why we produce 7 footers that shoot 3's like your best small guards. trust me on this although you may have a few dodgy results to begin this will make your players very rounded and very good and i can honestly see more of them playing better higher level ball later on.
if you want more info on the 5 out rotary system just tell me and i will post up the ins and outs of it.

well what ill do is when i have time ill do a proper write up of the 5 out. im taking over an U14s team next year so ill be using these tactics due to not knowing how tall each player will grow. the 5 out will help them gain experience in every position so they will all be set. when i write up my u14s playbook for next season ill put you a copy on this thread.
