Calling Your Own Fouls
I host an open gym, and the games are timed by 12 mins, recently there was a game where time expired and the game was tied, so we did whoever makes next point wins, the team with the ball made the shot but the player called foul (not and 1) typically the way we play is, you call foul, then the shot does not count. We ended up calling it back and doing the play over, but the same thing happened and there was a big uproar about it, one team said that the shot counts even if he calls foul, but the other team said it does not. From what I understand, the shot does not count.
What does anybody else think?

Re: Calling Your Own Fouls
really? we play that it don't matter who call foul...if the shot went in, it counts. that said i dunno why anyone would call foul before seeing if the shot goes in....if it misses then call foul. if it went in, there is no need.
personally i don't call fouls i let the opposition call them. i see it as a challenge to finish a play even with the contact...cos in the league i play refs dont call shit so i may as well practice when playing a pick up game...

Derz,
Part of the rule is, that if you call foul in the act of shooting, then you have to call before the ball is released, thanks for your relpy

Re: Calling Your Own Fouls
where I play you call a foul if you want, but you hafta call it when it happens, not after you see if the shot went in or not...I usually dont call fouls unless I feel the shot is going to go off, why risk having to take it back out, when ya could have gotten a point doesnt always work, but I am getting good at it.

Re: Calling Your Own Fouls
if you call foul during, before, or after the shot the shot iz not good no matter what... if foul iz called then ball iz out... only if the person who shoots its calls it... if the person playing d calls it and the shot iz released out of the offensive mans hands and they call ball or wateva if the shot goes in it iz good

Re: Calling Your Own Fouls
We generally play no fouls if you're driving to the whole and get bumped while driving, but if its a blatant foul you call it like a shove or something. When in the act of shooting though it's a foul and a basket.

Re: Calling Your Own Fouls
wer im from, wen u play a pickup game and u shoot the ball and call a foul, even if the ball is in the air, then it counts, or if u call the foul while ure shooting and it goes in it also counts, and "foul" is the same as "and1"...it both means u got fouled and the shot counts wetherit goes in or not...
