Re: follow through
If you can afford to buy a vid, Dave Hopla is one of the best shooting coaches ever. He works for the Washington Wizards, used to hold the record for the most 3 pointers made in one minute. He has the text book shot, Gil Arenas says that Dave Hopla shoots so good that he won't challenge him to a shooting contest. Another trick of his, to help in game shooting, is to trace your hand on a piece of cardboard, cut it out, tape it to the bill of a hat so that it hangs in front of your face. Go out and practice shooting with a hand in your face. I personally pretend that I'm in a phone booth and have to shoot out of the top of it. This helps me get the correct arc on the shot. I never bring the ball in front of my face, so as to not block my vision of the basket. I bring it up just slightly to the side. Flick your wrist when you release, so you get good rotation. Also, I aim for the back of the rim, or dead center. Try not to stare at the front of the rim, or you'll tend to leave your shot short. From the angles, learn to shoot off glass. Just look at how efficient Tim Duncan is at it, and Jordan was.
