Default Point Guard

I created this post to generally help those who aim to be a PG but has no one to guide them.
So you may start off saying why you like PGs, and what fundamentals did you do to improve you handling and passing skills.
Last of all state which PG do you like best.

ahhhhhh
Now we're talking..
I play PG myself.. I like playing Point because.. you have the ball with you most of the time. PGs mostly do the flash stuff and I feel the dribbling part is the most exciting thing about basketball.

And obviously, I like Jason Williams the best. His ballhandling is really almost unparalled, no one matches his style and personality on the court. Not too much nowadays though, if you look at his few Kings games you'll know what I'm talking about.

I would like some advice for running up the court easy without being called an 8 sec.

When you're pressed full court by more than one man, how to evade the pressure and get across the line to the opposite zone.

That would be nice because i always do that the funky way.

Some tips on getting pass the defender when they are playing you extremely close would be cool. I can easily get them when they are like 2.5-3ft away but when they are extremely close and theres little space(like to dribble the ball i get it slapped away. I watch people handle that easily but they dribble so fast that defender is always slapping air so im guessing increased speed with control is the key? Problem is that wen they give space to prevent driving and force the jump shot i can easily get pass them and get to the rim but when they give little space i cant.

First of all, you need a good drive. Secondly, have a nice simple crossover that you can fake your opponent with and easily advance past him. If you really cannot do these two things, I suggest you ask for a teammate's help to get open in the front court and pass it to him.
That's what I would suggest. If you are able to drive with two hands that's a bonus.

Basic fundamental ball handling helps a lot. First of all, if you see Chris Paul, he always does his behind the back. Behind the back is a crucial weapon against defenders that guard very close.
Secondly, you must be able to add that little "magic" ball handling touch to your dribbling, you can make as though your opponent is grabbing air. Even little touches can help a lot.
I remember a moment when my friend is guarding me. He was trying to steal the ball but keep missing it, by a little bit. He was like astonished. In reality I only made the ball bounce a bit higher or lower.
Finally, if the defender is guarding you really close, drive to one side, do a very fast crossover without stopping your drive, and respond accordingly to your opponent's reaction.
Normally people aren't very good at guarding driving opponents unless they really have a good change of direction.

if you're being pressed then the best way to get the ball up the court is passing. it's the quickest way to get up the court so you have a chance of catching the defence whilst they are coming back. also if like you said there is more than one guy on you you will always have a free man somewhere and an easy pass so use it.
