-take it rite over them...and lay it up...takes practice tho...or...

-before u dribble take a few jab steps and try gettin them to free u up sum space, this works great espicially if u got a great jumpshot...or...

-speed by really fast on ure strong side (well take the rite side as an example),then stop suddenlyand hopstep to the other side (left side), u should have a clear path and be able to lay it up...or...

-this doesnt always work by if u can outmuscle the d just take it strong while holding the ball tightly,u might not score but ull likely get fouled...

Speed is overrated. Elusiveness is what you need. Let me give you a move.

1. Dribble the ball.
2. Drive to the left.
3. Take one dribble the same time you step to the right with your right foot(directly at the defender) Put abit of body into this.
4. Step back with both feet, square up and shoot.

I can't explain it that well. If you put some body into this, you'll have some space for your shot.

Begin to back them down, and try to get it so that you could quickly turn, and be around his shoulder. Move your arm up to the side when you do, so that he is slowed down a bit(If you watch, a lot of great players do this.) then take it up.

The first move shown in this short clip will give you an example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRHbRzNshb4

Another thing is, as long as you don't hesitate you really won't have THAT many problems.

It depends on who the D is. If they are bigger than you, your best choice will probably be to fake them out either by going one way and and doing a sudden behind the back, (one of my favorites) or if they're smaller, and you think you can take them going up to the hoop just put some power into the drive, and tap it in. For big guys, just avoid putting the ball right in front of them when your going up to the rack. That will make for an easy block on the D's part.
