Question [Shooting] Finger placement

On the hole of the basketball you are supposed to put your middle finger on that hole, but I've always trained with my pointing finger. I've done it for like a decade or so. When I tried to change the shot (bad idea) it was really bad.

What potential does it have to screw up your shot? (What happens to the spin, rotation etc...)

I know my shot isn't that broken but I just started playing again so my shooting percentage already worsened, so should I switch it?

Is it worth it to change the finger positioning? (If it will give me the better edge)

It just feels really weird when I do switch it.

Also, how do you analyze how NBA players play? It usually goes to fast.

One thing you should do is not to think about it as much, concentrate on perfecting your form and getting rid of the bad habits in your shot.

The only bad habit I have is the timing of my release which is effected by the placement of the fingers. That is the main thing that needs to be fixed.
