When I went to the And1 tour, the announcer gave everyone who was participating in the game (to choose the team who would vs the And1 team) the basic rules that And1 play by, or basic streetball rules.
Firstly, there is no double teaming allowed. He made that clear, its about how well an individual can do against another individual, not how well the team does together.
Secondly, he said that if it looks good and it's not too much, it counts. So all those carry's the ballers do are legit in streetball.
Firstly, the author does not realize that streetball is not for winning, it is to entertain the players and the audience. Even if you suck at shooting, or are not tall enough to rebound, that shouldnt make a difference to how spectacular you can be with your handles, or stealing, or whatever you are good at. Its just not right to come and try and convince people to spend long hours training the fundamentals when all they want to do is enjoy themselves and make a show of it the same time. I mean sure, your going to need to be solid in the fundamentals if you want to have a strong game, but if you just wanna have an hour or so of ballin, you dont need anything.
Im not trying to de-promote the fundamentals of basketball, but I have played both Streetball and FIBA rules basketball. With real rules, height and jump is king. Being taller gives you all the real advantages you need, it is easier to shoot when your taller, easier to rebound, easier to lay up, easier to receive a pass, easier to block, easier to find someone, etc. If you have a huge jump height, that is the 2nd best thing to being tall. It really sucked being the only 6' guy when your sorrounded by 6'5''+ guys, who are all better in your coaches eyes. Infact, 1 dude, 6'11'' was always picked in the starting 5 when he was absolutely garbage. Still, he got scouted over me because he got alot more action, now I ask you, is that fair?
Unless your amazing like Iverson, your not going to play Pro, or even be recognized for that matter in a regular game. Streetball is the one place where short people have a chance to shine.
I was going to write alot more, really cant, at least I got the height thing outta the way
