btw, iono if anybodys ever tried this (besides me) but sometimes i roll a few tennis balls on the ground and wait til theyre far enough away from me then i throw bounce passes wit my basketball, (i aim for the tennis balls on the ground). its a good practice for presicion passing, i think. jus do it in a space where theres a few walls around u so u dont hav to keep runnin around to get the balls back

alright here are my suggestions. when i play organized ball i am a 2-3 because i am pretty tall but on the streets i play point guard.

as a point guard your job is to create points. period. just like steve nash. the pointguard has the ball 50% of the time so your job isn't necessarily to score, but make sure your team scores every time down the floor, no matter how you do it. remember, all players on your team have their style of play, your job is to fit their style and maximize their abilities.

learn to be the floor general, take charge of your team.

play lockdown defense as well. frustrate the guy you are guarding. keep the other point guard from doing his job.

one other thing i recommend is doing ball handling drills with a heavy medicine ball. if you can handle dribbling a medicine ball, you wouldn't believe how easily handling a basketball is.

good luck.

im a pg and i do all the fundamentals u guys have listed pretty well, but im not as good when reacting to pressure. Im quick and i have handles, but i really want to improve my decision making when defenders are playing all over me. My first reaction is to just drive, but obviously if there is help defence nearby that will not always work. I'm pretty short (well, compared to eveyrone else) so I can't use my body too much to keep the defender away very effectively. Should I use my instinct and dribbling skills to keep the ball away? Should I back away and create more space?

I'm not really used to on the spot, high-pressure defence because I'm more of a street/YMCA baller , any tips and any ways I can improve this? My skills are pretty solid, this is one of the things I really want to improve to be an effective point guard cuz i'll be playing for varsity next year

Remember that you carry the team as the point guard... A lot of the time they look to you for the decisions on the court, not only do you have to have the physical skills you need the mental skills to make the quick decisions.
Ball control is a big aspect, protect the ball so you ccan get a open pass, a lane or a shot, never throw up the ball for grabs
