Default How to I beat this guy?

Alright, I'm gon be a freshman and I'm tryin to make varsity at the high school this year. I'm 6'0 or so (can't dunk yet tho-almost) and today I had to play this kid in 1on1. He is gon be a soph. and he is about 5'7. Anyway we have summer practice type thing and today I had to play him in 1on1. We had a 4 dribble rule where you only got 4 dribbles. it sucked. i got beat 11-6. i just can't get by him with 4 dribbles and my shot wasn't falling and he was making everything. how do i beat him? any suggestions? thanks guys.

hmm....thats pretty tough, try to get ur shot better since only 4 steps wont get u that close to the rim, also play harder defense so it is harder for the other person to try and pull off a shot

try to fake your way left, bringing the ball down behind your leg so its protected. make it VERY convincing though. when he goes to stop your drive, extremely quickly cross over with your left foot and take off down the right lane. do all of this very quickly. trust me i am 6'1 and it works for me all the time.

you only get four dribbles to get to the hoop or whatever on offense. which is retarded.

if ur shot aint fallin, then drive out of triple threat. make some convincing jab fakes, and see if hes playing u one way or another. if u dont have an easy layup after u drive, then do a jumpstop and pumpfake. or throw in some pivot moves (e.g. if ur driving right, after u stop, pretend to do a spin move to the left but then just spin back and u have a easy layup to the right)

considering u have the size advantage, this would be really effective because hed have to play u really closely to stop the drive, and be more likely to fall for the fakes. and if he doesnt guard u closely, then pull up

my coach did it with 3 dribbles

i guess its supposed to work on making the most with the least dribbles, so u dont just dribble around and waste time like normal 1 on 1. and most of the time, u only score off a few dribbles in game situations, like pull up jumpers, drives, boring fundamental stuff ukno ?

same here shot my coach also did it wit 3 the point is his testing u if u are good point guard on clunch shot situations which take only about 3 dribbles any way and quick reflexes if u have point skills then ull be succeful , words of wisdom of a 6 '0 foward with amazing point skill if my rebounds werrent a record in greece i would be point guard, just fake him one way and do a layup on the opposite side like go for left side do some quick trick and take a jump shot on the right side or layup , for it to work good and impress the coach jump from the left and glide in the air to the right , coaches like that trust me but it requires a lot of air , but u beeing six foot ucan do it
good luck

instead of worrying about the guy just play ur game!..do your basics..work on your shot..and remember the more your shot goes in the closer he's gonna guard you..the more closer he is..easier to blow past him!
