Personally, I hate all his tracks. They're repetitve and easy to make. If you have the right software, you just need some presets and you're done. I have no idea how he got so popular but it shows you how much it hiphop music has degraded. If you listen to old-school tracks or some underground rap, you can hear the difference in the lyrical skills.
I don't think he can single-handedly destroy hip-hop, but he's doing a pretty good job.

I believe that real hip hop(in my opinion) is alive and kicking. There are lots of great artists out there dropping killa tracks and rocking the mic atm, like canibus, immortal technique, the game, Nas, sick since, mos def, talib kweli and so on. Just check out the line up for this years rock the bells tour.
The thing is the majority of people are not exposed to these rappers, only people who are true hip hop heads know about them and can appreciate their art. In Australia, the only rappers i have ever seen on music shows like Rage and TV Hits or w/e are the commercial/hip-pop fakers(Lil Wayne, 50 cent, Souljah boi, T-Pain, n shit) n on the radio, all they play is the same shit aswell. So basically down under, most peoples first thought of rap is these cats like souljah boi n em.
Basically, these people who we believe are 'killing hip hop' are getting the most recognition and ruining our ideal image, and the real shit isn't getting noticed by the public.
The last time 50cent performed at Perth, my sister and my friends brothers and other fam went, and said that the whole audience was basically screaming under-aged white school girls.
When i mean real shit, this is what i mean:
YouTube - Canibus - Channel Zero (Original)
YouTube - Eric B. & Rakim - Juice (Know The Ledge)
YouTube - Eric B. & Rakim - Don't Sweat The Technique
YouTube - TELL THE TRUTH - Mos Def - Immortal Technique - Eminem
YouTube - Nas-Nas Is Like
YouTube - 2Pac, Notorious BIG - Runnin' (Dying to Live) (Uncensored)
YouTube - 2Pac - Keep Ya Head Up
YouTube - Mos Def, Talib Kweli & Common - Respiration
YouTube - Talib Kweli "Listen!!!" Video
YouTube - Blackstar (Mos Def & Talib Kweli) - Definition
YouTube - Common - The People
YouTube - Sick Since Presents: The 4 Horsemen
Thats True/real/ rap. ^^^
W/E you wanna call it, that's the stuff we need back in the public and getting heard by the masses, not only the hardcore hip hop heads who have to find this by chance on the internet.
When it comes down to it, i think it's just your point of view. You shouldn't blame Ice-t for thinking that way, i mean of course he's gonna look at souljah boi's shit as a joke because of the time where he is from, back then when he was young, rap is nothing like it is now.
Imo, rap has changed for the worst, and that's because i don't like this new shit which is getting the most props as rap by folks.
